Discover the mystical trails of the Everest Yeti with our premium trekking package that offers both comfort and adventure. Immerse yourself in the legend and beauty of the Thame valley, known in Himalayan mythology as the home of the enigmatic Yeti. This historic site also stands as a testament to the birthplace of legendary Everest summiteers like Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Appa.
Our journey will take you through iconic landmarks such as the Kongde lodge, the world’s highest-altitude lodge offering breathtaking views of the mountain series. Our curated trail includes stays at our comfort Mountain Lodges, meticulously located at stunning vantage points in Lukla, Phakding, Namche, Thame, and Kongde, offering modern comforts with a conscious effort to minimize environmental impact.
Please note: The trekking times indicated below are approximate and are best used as general guidelines. During the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, you’ll be able to travel freely at your own pace.
Upon your arrival at Lukla Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by our representative and escorted to our Lukla lodge for breakfast and a meet-and-greet with your trekking crew. As you embark on your journey through the picturesque Khumbu ‘Gateway’, prepare yourself for a vibrant trek adorned with rhododendron forests, quaint hamlets, and the Dudh Koshi River’s flowing banks. The trail, punctuated with views of snow-capped peaks, provides ample opportunities for rest and refreshment at small shops offering local beverages.
Your trek advances past the remarkable Mani stone at Thado Koshi, guiding you to our Phakding Lodge for a late lunch. The afternoon unfolds with a scenic walk along the Dudh Koshi River, offering a glimpse of Thamserku, leading you through the terraced hillside to reach the tranquil village of Benker. Your journey embraces both tranquility and undulating landscapes as you cross streams and wander through Monjo village, known for its limited tourist lodges, offering a perfect retreat for relaxation and reflection.
Your day culminates at our lodge, where a stone-paved pathway through a lush garden welcomes you to a homely lobby, marking the end of your trekking day with comfort and warmth.
The following day’s hike to Namche is breathtaking, and the trail offers two incredible swing bridge crossings over the roaring Dudh Koshi. The hike does begin its uphill climb soon after reaching the riverbank. While this stretch is not difficult as such, it can feel relentless in its ascent. Luckily, there is no shortage of scenic spots to rest and catch your breath and take photos.
Namche itself is the last major stop in the Everest region, with ample options for shopping for any travel needs, dining out or even taking a break at beer gardens. The trek includes an extra day to do all of that, or if you’re raring to go, choose a day trek to beautiful Khumjung instead, home of the Sir Edmund Hillary school house.
Now things change. The hike to Thame goes north-west out of Namche, instead of the north-east trail towards Everest that the vast majority of tourists and trekkers. This is important because everyone shares the trail up to Namche. But when headed to Thame, the trail feels distinctly less crowded, with very little tourist traffic but ample opportunities to see the slow mountain life in small villages. The route also gets infinitely more scenic, with lots of patches of rhododendron tree groves and mountain views all around. And the closer one gets to Thame, the more compelling all of it gets!
Unlike the aforementioned north-east trail, here you will experience real tranquility and solitude in Himalayan wilderness. As you walk under the canopy of lush mountain vegetation and rhododendron forests, cross bridgeless snow-melt streams thousands of feet up in the Himalayas, steadily navigate narrow paths above rocky canyons, and enter countless meadows with breathtaking panoramic views, your guide will likely be the only other people around. To say your ultimate destination, the Kongde lodge, is an exceptionally rare Himalayan experience would be an understatement.
A full day to enjoy Kongde Ri (19685 ft. / 6000m) is the pinnacle of the Yeti Trail. A small crystal clear lake awaits those willing to make a near four-hour ascent that day. To reflect in that otherworldly pool is truly a sublime achievement.
You’ll enjoy a faster descent, with all the views, on this return trek to Phakding. Afterward, you can enjoy free time at the riverside lodge or opt for a short trip to a higher village and a delightful tiny gompa perched on the valley side. In the evening, we gather for drinks by the fire, followed by a delightful meal at our newly built restaurant overlooking the Dudh Koshi River.
Because Phakding is below Lukla, there’s a little ascent in the well-traveled route back to Lukla, where a celebratory night at the end of your trek awaits.
